The Barnett Branch Library’s expansion was shaped around the people it serves, celebrating the neighborhood’s broad mix of cultures and backgrounds. Guests arrive through a warm, landscape-integrated entry sequence that gently guides them inside, where a main walkway, defined by brick elements that link outdoors and in, creates a meaningful passage toward the library’s offerings and highlights views of the mature trees that anchor the site. The project entailed reconfiguring staff workspaces to optimize efficiency and accommodate the expanding scope of library services. The new addition was strategically programmed to prioritize areas dedicated to children’s literature and community meeting rooms, fostering an inclusive environment that supports lifelong learning and community engagement.
