Samuel Tibbs

Project Architect

While working as a Library Assistant at DAAP, a Design Intern at a local firm, and a retail associate, Samuel earned his Bachelor of Science in Architecture as a Darwin T. Turner Scholar from the University of Cincinnati in 2016. He continued as an architectural designer in Columbus while engaging in community outreach to support underrepresented students’ pursuit of the design field. In 2017, he joined the Knowlton School of Architecture at Ohio State to pursue his Master of Architecture degree. As an Enrichment Fellow and later, Gallery Assistant, he engaged in visualization research, drone technology, editorial photography, study abroad programming and gallery exhibition support until his Graduation in 2019. Samuel became a licensed drone pilot in 2021, and achieved architectural Licensure in 2024.

Samuel has joined Schooley Caldwell with 10+ years of K-12 Education design experience and passion for diversity outreach, international design awareness, and thoughtful collaboration with team, technology, and community to tell stories that build impactful experiences. His mentality leverages a background of overcome hardship to break down barriers, remove obstacles, work towards shared goals, and inspire a positive future for others.

Outside of the office, Samuel teaches undergraduate design studios, and leads study abroad programming at the Knowlton School of Architecture. He currently sits on The NOMAColumbus Board as Student Engagement Chair, acts as Faculty Advisor for the NOMAS chapter at Ohio State, and operates his own photography studio. He can usually be found talking about design, travel, and technology, working on creative shop projects, volunteering, or critiquing the latest film, video game or story from which he derives inspiration.
