Senior Associate, Director of Architectural Design
David has been with Schooley Caldwell since 1989 and is the firm’s Director of Architectural Design. As such, he acts as the lead designer on most of the firm’s projects and has been involved in all aspects of project design from the planning phase through construction. He has experience on very high-profile public projects and with a wide range of building types, from a Frank Lloyd Wright home in Springfield, Ohio to schools, courthouses, student housing, and the Utah, Ohio, and Kansas state capitol buildings. He is a graduate of the Pratt Institute with a Bachelor of Architecture degree.
David’s excellent knowledge of architectural history and design acumen result in sensitive yet innovative designs that honor historic architecture but allow for the fact that buildings must change in order to remain viable and functional. In addition, David’s designs always have an eye toward sustainability—he has been integrally involved with all of our LEED-certified renovations to historic buildings.
Outside of architecture, David is very involved in the community, serving as a Commissioner for the Clintonville Area Commission, board member of the Columbus Landmarks Foundation, and member of the Clintonville Area Commission’s Preservation Committee.
